Although I reviewed several
sources on the topic, I found some articles and a very limited number of
books available about the Lebanese cinema during the post-civil war era.
I had to supplement the written sources available with some interviews
and a questionnaire distributed to the students of ‘Communication Arts:
Radio, T.V. and Film’ in various Lebanese universities. The
questionnaire aimed mainly at getting a general idea about the
educational program, the financial problems facing the students in
meeting the filmmaking requirement, and their future interests.
Lebanon is a small country
strategically located on the crossroads of three continents. In Arabic
‘Lubnan’ is an Aramaic word that means white (Fauvel, 1975, p.37).
Lebanon, with an area of 10452 sq km. is located on the eastern shores of the
Mediterranean.
