2003 (Dubai) UAE Marlboro Desert Challenge

The Rally of Lebanon, a milestone in my career as a press officer, offered me new horizons in the world of motor sports. The first challenge was to be in charge of the press office of a top event in the World Cup series, the final round of both the FIA and FIM World Cups for Cross Country Rallies, the 2003 UAE Marlboro Desert Challenge. Stephane Peterhansel and Cyril Despres were the titles’ beholders of this five day event which is the largest one in motor sport in the region with both championships decided across the sands of the UAE.

I had the opportunity to meet many world champions, to interview them at the Start and Finish Ramp, and to be the MC of the prize giving ceremony with over 1200 persons attending.

While the stay in the bivouac, near the Liwa oasis, gave me a taste of this dusty amazing atmosphere.
